OK, I love horses! I have since I was a little girl (I got this from my mom who also loved and owned a horse growing up) I had one too! Until I graduated from HS.
Well a friend took me riding a week ago Saturday. We went to Malabar Farms and it was truly gorgeous! The weather was perfect, we rode all afternoon, towards the end of the ride I had decided I was getting another horse one way or another. We were almost back to the horse trailer when my beautiful horse~Rain~first stumbled, then spooked from a deer, off I went, but not before tangling my right foot in the stirrup. Well, we were on a trail and it took the park rangers with EMS about 30 minutes to find us. Anita had a cell phone (I am so thankful!)Talk about feeling foolish! I had about 10 people looking down on me, an EMT starting an IV, as I sit on the ground covered in weeds. Then they splinted my ankle which was kinda just hanging there, load me on a stretcher and pop me into the back of a 4 wheel drive to get to the ambulance. So that night I had a 2 1/2 hour surgery. I am now the proud owner of 8 pins, a couple screws and a plate all covered with a cast. I went home last Sunday with instructions to elevate toes above nose every 45 min for 10 days, no weight bearing for 6 weeks followed by a boot for 5 weeks.
So, I am trying to look on the bright side~~more time to read, stitch, and design!! The first week really went by in a fog, due in large part to the pain meds I was on.
I'm feeling better and almost have a design finished! I also am about done with a small booklet of designs "Her Wicked Best" Anyhoo, thanks for listening. and looking at my pics. I am still determined to get a horse, however, I will ALWAYS wear boots when riding!! Back to the Dr tomorrow to get a new cast. I am so looking forward to getting outside! Really, the things we take for granted....

Simply Eat Crow

I met Terri Duskin at In The Spirit Of Friends show at Malabar Farms. She has the coolest witchy things, which of course caught my eye!
Simply Eat Crow is the name of Terri's business, you can find her things on E-bay and in her shop.
Here are some pictures of Terri's neat shop and a few of a memorial to Seneca John~an Indian who was killed for supposedly practicing witchcraft. (the memorial is right down the road from Terri's shop: The Queen Bee and house.

Terri wrote an awesome poem about Seneca John, which I am going to make a design from! The pictures of the side of the memorial are of pudding stone, a really cool formation of different rocks.

Crunch Time!

this is Tombstone Spots before framing.

I dropped off a few things to be framed for St Charles and am waiting for 2 more models to be finished, then I can pick out frames for those too!
It has been such a busy summer, I hope I can kick it in gear and get ready for market!

This has been one busy summer! Just got home this morning from Alabama and New Orleans. We had a great time, but it's always good to come home.
Mariah is all settled in at college and we are helping Cody move in Friday.
So it's time to get busy and get things ready for St. Charles.
I don't have any pics yet (but soon). So far it's looking like my new releases will be~~~
1. Witches Hollow~this is a pretty big design, Karen V did an awesome RR, and she so graciously allowed me to pattern my design from it. Charity is working away on the model.
2 Retro Halloween~this one is stitched (thanks to Marlaine) I just picked out a frame today. This design was inspired from a vintage piece of crepe paper.
3. Fly Needles Fly~ This one has a cool fall/Halloweeny verse, Julie is working on the model.
4. God Bless Us Everyone~this is a small Christmas design that Nicole just finished.
5~Let Your Life Speak~this is a Quaker type design that Eve is currently working on.
6~Tombstone Spots~this one is inspired by the grave rubbings Mariah and I did this summer. Laurie is stitching the model.
I think that about wraps it up. I'm stitching a witchy (what else?) freebie model.

Cape Cod's Boys is not quite done. I was hoping to have it done for St. Charles but it is not looking good.
Hoodoo Voodoo is also in the works.

Raspberries

These pics are the bushes in my back yard.






It's raspberry time in Ohio! Yeah!! My most favorite treat~

Here's a great recipe~
Red Raspberry Desert

Crust~
3 Cups flour
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 Cup oil
4 Tbsp. milk
Mix above together and pat in 9 x 13 pan. Bake 15 minutes at 375

Top~
2 Cups sugar
2 Cups water use less water if berries are frozen)
1/4 Cup corn starch (4 Tbsp)
1 small box raspberry jello
1 Quart raspberries
Cook sugar, water, and corn starch till thick. Remove from heat~add jello and stir til dissolved. Cool 45 min. to an hour in refrigerator.
add one (1) quart of raspberries just before you add to crust.

Filling~ (second layer)
8 OZ. cream cheese
1 Cup powdered sugar
1/2 of an 8 oz. tub of Cool Whip
Cream together and spread on top of cool crust.

Add one quart of raspberries to jello and pour over the cream mixture.

Refrigerate until set~about 3 hours
To serve: Add Cool Whip on top if desired.

Tip" Make sure everything is cool~it will set up better.

Grave rubbings

it was so pretty here




Mariah and I went to a couple graveyards yesterday and got some rubbings. I would love to go to some in Cape Cod where there are all those skull and angel ones (someday) but we did find some cool old stones~and that led me to an idea for a design, which I have started~motifs from old tombstones.
